Lancaster Stormers News Release

Dan Osterbrock scattered eight hits over eight innings on Thursday evening, pitching Lancaster to a 5-0 victory over the Bridgeport Bluefish at The Ballpark at Harbor Yard.

Osterbrock (8-3) also walked two and struck out four in his longest outing of the season. The lefty threw 101 pitches before giving way to Pete Andrelczyk for the ninth. He benefitted from three double plays, and only one Bridgeport runner, Luis Lopez with two outs in the seventh, advanced to third base. The win was Osterbrock's first since July 9 when he beat Camden, 4-1.

Lancaster struck for two runs in the top of the first off Matt Iannazzo (3-5). Casey Frawley worked out a walk on a full count pitch. Cole Garner, who had three hits on the night, took Iannazzo over the head of center fielder Casper Wells for a double, sending Frawley to third. Andrew Clark snuck out a walk to load the bags. Brett Carroll produced the first run with a sacrifice fly to center, and Gabe Jacobo singled off the glove of shortstop Mike Richard as a second run crossed the plate.

Frawley reached base on an error to lead off the third. Richard fielded his ground ball, but his throw pulled Lopez barely off the first base bag as Frawley's foot came down. Garner singled to left, sending Frawley to second. Clark's deep fly ball to center sent Frawley to third, and he scored when Carroll's sharp grounder to short went through Richard's legs for the second error on the shortstop in the inning. Jacobo rapped a single into left to score Garner for a 4-0 lead after Carroll was caught stealing on the first move by the lefty.

The Barnstormers' final run scored in the top of the sixth. With one out, Brock Kjeldgaard stroked a sinking line drive to left field. Fred Lewis attempted the shoestring grab, but the ball skipped past him and rolled all the way to the wall for a triple. Juan Apodaca got the run home with a sac fly to left.

Over the final three innings, Lancaster had six men reach base against reliever Kyle McMillen but hit into two double plays and never scored again.

Chris Schwinden (10-2) will take the mound for Lancaster on Friday evening in the series finale. He will be opposed by right-hander Julio Rodriguez (2-1). Fans may tune into 1390-AM, WLAN; 1600-AM, WPDC; 1390wlan.com or the I Heart Radio cell phone app, beginning at 6:45.
