Strong Island Sound Proud Of Their Police
January 17, 2006 - American Basketball Association (ABA)
Strong Island Sound News Release
The Strong Island Sound are a brand new professional basketball team playing on Long Island in the new version of the ABA, red white and blue basketball and all. The original ABA had a long tradition on Long Island and we hope to continue that with our team. We are looking to promote games with a family-friendly and affordable atmosphere. We are trying to establish a relationship with the community and would like to extend this invitation.
On Friday February 17th 7 p.m. at Suffolk Community College in Selden, N.Y. we will be playing the Maryland Nighthawks. The Strong Island Sound are proud to announce that the game will be "Police Department Appreciation Night". There will be FREE admission when you show your employment identification card. We welcome all employees of the Police Department.
The Strong Island Sound would like you to join us in our inaugural season. We have a brand new mascot that we want to familiarize with the people on Long Island, who will be busy taking pictures with all the fans and throwing Sound t-shirts into the stands during "T-Shirt Toss Time-Outs".
All fans will receive a FREE game program upon entrance. Parking is also FREE at all Strong Island Sound home games. We are hoping to have success with the sport of basketball similar to what the Long Island Ducks have had with baseball.
The Strong Island Sound are looking forward to working with the local agencies on fundraisers, raffles, and prizes. And of course our mascot and players are available for personal appearances.
We hope to see everyone at the game. It's a great way to enjoy a fun-filled professional local sports event.
Note: OurSports Central no longer actively covers the American Basketball Association (ABA) as a professional league due in part to its inability to publish and play a schedule and the transitory nature of many of its teams. For information on professional minor leagues, please see OSC's basketball section.
