
Streaking Sound Tigers Eye First Place Overall

BRIDGEPORT, CT â The American Hockey League's Bridgeport Sound Tigers, the top affiliate of the National Hockey League's New York Islanders, will play three games in as many nights this weekend visiting the Albany River Rats tomorrow at 7 p.m. and returning to Bridgeport's Arena at Harbor Yard to host the Hershey Bears Saturday at 7:05 p.m. and the Hartford Wolf Pack Sunday at 4:05 p.m. Friday's road game will be broadcast live on 600 WICC-AM and at www.soundtigers.com. This weekend's home games will be web cast at www.soundtigers.com.
The Sound Tigers enter this weekend just one point behind Hershey in both the East Division and overall AHL standings with 30 points and a 13-3-3-1 record. They are on a nine-game winning streak, an eight-game road unbeaten streak (7-0-1), and a 15-game unbeaten-in-regulation streak (13-0-1-1). All three streaks represent all-time franchise records. The Sound Tigers are also unbeaten-in-regulation in their last eight home games (6-0-1-1). Their last loss in regulation was a 3-1 defeat by the Bears in Hershey on October 18th. Their last loss of any kind was a 3-2 overtime loss to Hartford at home on October 24th.
There will be a Chuck-A-Puck during the second intermission, and Derek Bekar will be signing autographs on the concourse after the game Saturday.
The Bridgeport and Hartford Fire Departments will play a benefit hockey game at Harbor Yard at 1 p.m. Sunday. Tickets for the game cost $17.50 and include admission to that evening's Sound Tigers game. Proceeds from the charity game will benefit "Swim Across The Sound".
Sunday will be "Police Officer & Firefighter Appreciation Day" with specially-priced tickets available to Police Officers and Firefights who order in advance by calling 203-334-GOAL or show proper identification at the Harbor Yard box office the day of the game.
Sunday will also be "New Haven County Appreciation Day" with specially-priced tickets for New Haven County residents who order in advance by calling 203-334-GOAL or show proof of residency at the Harbor Yard box office the day of the game. Fans who wear New Haven sports jerseys can also purchase specially-priced tickets Sunday. The New Haven Traveling Hockey Museum will be on display, and several former New Haven hockey legends will be recognized during the first intermission of Sunday's game. Tom Colley, Eric Germain, Dave Hainsworth, Eno Kraft and John Sherban are among those scheduled to be recognized.
Fans will have an opportunity to shoot to win a Subaru Outback wagon courtesy of Crabtree Automall and a Thule Car Rack courtesy of Outdoor Sports Center of Wilton during Sunday's second intermission, and Kevin Colley, whose father Tom will be among the New Haven hockey legends recognized, will sign autographs on the concourse following the game.
Sound Tigers individual-game tickets are on sale at Bridgeport's Arena at Harbor Yard box office Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m., Saturday between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. and on all game days, as well as on-line at www.ticketmaster.com or by calling Ticketmaster at 203-368-1000.
