KODAK, TN - The Biscuits (53-40) suffered their first loss of the road trip in a rain-shortened ballgame to the Tennessee Smokies (55-39) Monday at Smokies Park, falling 4-2 in six innings.

The Biscuits had scored their first runs of the night shortly before the game was placed into a rain delay. In the top of the sixth, Leslie Anderson hit a one-out double with Nevin Ashley at first. Henry Wrigley then used an infield single to score Ashley, and with the bases loaded, Cody Cipriano grounded into a fielder's choice to score Anderson, trimming the deficit to 4-2 before the game was called.

The Smokies got a two-run shot in the second from Brandon Guyer, and scored twice more in the fourth inning with the bases loaded, getting a single to left from Tony Campana, and a sacrifice fly to right from Brett Jackson.

Alex Cobb (4-3) suffered the loss, allowing all four runs while fanning four and walking two over five innings. Tennessee starter Chris Archer (3-1) struck out six in his 5.1 innings to get the win, allowing two unearned runs. He's now gone four starts in double-A without allowing an earned run.

Cipriano and Wrigley led the Biscuits, each getting two hits apiece.

The two teams will conclude the series Tuesday at 6:15, with LHP David Newmann throwing for the Biscuits against Tennessee RHP Rafael Dolis.
