ZEBULON, NC - The Chattanooga Lookouts snapped their seven-game losing streak on Monday night as they took game three of the four game series from the Carolina Mudcats 8-1 at Five County Stadium.

Chattanooga (11-14) scored in the opening inning against Carolina (13-12) starter, Scott Carroll (L 2-5) as Corey Smith continued his torrid tear of Southern League pitching as he doubled home Jerry Sands and after one for a 1-0 lead.

The Lookouts expanded their lead in the second inning with a pair of runs as with two-outs, Dee Gordon doubled home a pair of runs and after two, it was 2-0 Chattanooga. Carolina scored their loan run of the game in the third inning off Lookout starter Brent Leach (W 5-2).

Carroll helped his own cause with a one out double to right in the third and he was brought home two batters later on a groundout by Felix Perez for his third RBI since joining the Mudcats.

However, Carolina could not scratch as they left runners on base in five separate innings including leaving a one out triple at third base in the second. While the Mudcats were stranding runners on base, the Lookouts were picking apart the Carolina bullpen. Jesus Delgado returned to Double-A and with the Mudcats trailing 4-1, allowing two runs in the eighth give up RBIs to Corey Smith and Ramon Nivar.

Jeremy Horst then came on and allowed two more Lookout runs to score in the eighth and Carolina could not draw any closer as they remained in a first-place tie in the Northern Division.

The final game of the homestand and four game series will be played on Tuesday at noon as Tom Cochran (7-3, 2.47) heads to the hill for the Mudcats against Lookouts starter Mario Alvarez (5-5, 5.09).
