
Jax Blast Past Stars On Monday

The Diamond Jaxx (9-16) jumped out to a 12-0 advantage on Monday night and never looked back in a 12-5 victory over the first place Huntsville Stars (13-12) at Joe Davis Stadium. The Jaxx had 15 hits and seven Diamond Jaxx' had two-hit performances. The Jaxx won their second straight tilt and lead the series 2-1, with the fourth game coming up on Tuesday afternoon at 1pm. The Jaxx are now 3-3 on the current road trip.
Matt Lawson collected his fourth straight two-hit day and hit his first career grand slam. Lawson is hitting .348 with two homers and eight RBI's since joining the Diamond Jaxx last Wednesday. Alex Liddi also homered for the second straight day and finished 2-for-4 with the homer and two RBI's. Joining Liddi and Lawson with two hits were Brandon Haveman, Johan Limonta, Guillermo Quiroz, Nate Tenbrink and Joe Dunigan. Chris Nowak and Brett Lawrie collected three hits apiece to lead the Stars 13-hit attack.
Steven Hensley (7-7) earned his first win since June 2nd and snapped a three game losing streak on the mound. Hensley worked 6.1 innings for West Tenn, giving up just one run on six hits. Josh Butler (3-5) suffered the loss and surrendered nine runs in just four innings for the Stars.
Matt Lawson hit a grand slam homerun in the top of the second inning that put the Jaxx up 4-0. The Jaxx left the bases loaded in the first inning. Lawson now has two homers since coming over from the Texas Rangers organization.
The Jaxx added two more runs in the top of the third inning. Joe Dunigan singled in Nate Tenbrink and then another run came across on a wild pitch. The Jaxx led the Stars 6-0 after the third.
Nate Tenbrink tripled home two more runs in the top of the fourth inning and Carlos Peguero singled home another to extend the Jaxx advantage out to 9-0.
Carlos Triunfel scored the Jaxx 10th run of the game in the top of the fifth inning on a wild pitch. Alex Liddi hit a two-run homer that finished off the Jaxx scoring. The Jaxx led 12-0.
Huntsville did score one run in the bottom of the fifth and four runs in the ninth to make the final score, 12-5. There was a brief delay in the ninth inning due to half of the light standards going off.
The Diamond Jaxx and Stars meet for a matinee 1pm start on Tuesday afternoon at Joe Davis Stadium. RHP Jarrett Grube (1-3, 2.59) will start for the Jaxx, while the Stars will counter with RHP Michael Fiers (1-0, 4.91). The game can be heard at diamondjaxx.com
