Seattle Storm News Release

SEATTLE – The WNBA Champion Seattle Storm today signed six-year veteran and former Connecticut Sun guard Adrienne Johnson to a contract.

Per team policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Johnson, 31, was assigned by the WNBA to the Cleveland Rockers in 1997 after a standout career at Ohio State University. She was selected by the Orlando Miracle in the 1999 WNBA Expansion Draft.

In 2003 the 5-10 guard went to Connecticut as a member of the Miracle's roster, but missed the 2004 campaign due to injury. She had her best season in 2000 as a starter for the Orlando Miracle when she averaged 13.6 points and 2.8 rebounds while playing 34.4 minutes per game.

The Storm will open the 2005 WNBA season on Saturday, May 21 against their Western Conference rival Los Angeles Sparks at KeyArena.

The Seattle Sonics & Storm manages the Puget Sound region's professional basketball franchises – the NBA's Seattle SuperSonics and the WNBA's Seattle Storm. The organization oversees all sales, marketing, finance, public relations and basketball operations for the teams. The Basketball Club of Seattle LLC owns both teams.
