Tri-City (19-13-4-4) has risen to 4th place in the USHL's Western Conference standings following back-to-back wins over Omaha. The Storm posted a 12-2 win over the Lancers Sunday evening at the Viaero Center, and a 6-0 victory last night on the road at Liberty First Credit Union Arena. Tri-City has won each of its first three games played against Omaha this season, and won last year's series with a final record of 8-1-0-1 in head-to-head battles in the in-state rivalry. The Storm is 14-3-2-2 in games played against the Lancers the last five seasons at the Viaero Center following Sunday's ten-goal victory. Tri-City improved to 14-3-0-2 when leading after the 1st period, and 15-0-2-0 when leading after the 2nd period in last night's six-goal road win over Omaha. Zach Bade (5,6), Cam Briere (15,16), Blake Steenerson (4), and A.J. Lacroix (8) scored goals for the Storm in the victory. Cameron Korpi recorded his second shutout of the season in goal for Tri-City in a 21-save performance. Tonight's game at the Viaero Center is the Storm's last home game until the team hosts the Lincoln Stars for back-to-back games on Saturday, March 2nd, and Sunday, March 3rd. Tri-City will embark on a five-game road trip following tonight's rivalry game in Kearney against Omaha.
Omaha (7-30-3-0) was held off of the scoreboard for the fourth time this season in last night's six-goal home loss to Tri-City. The Lancers have dropped the last ten games, and have not defeated the Storm in more than a year in regular season play. Omaha enters tonight's game in last place in the USHL standings. The Lancers have posted three wins in their last twenty-one games played. Omaha has not defeated a Western Conference opponent in the 2024 calendar year, and has not won a game at the Viaero Center since posting a 4-3 shootout victory over Tri-City on Friday, December 9th, 2022. The Lancers' last win in regulation time over the Storm in Kearney came on Friday, February 18th, 2022, in a 3-2 victory. Omaha will return to action next weekend with back-to-back road games against the USHL-leading, and defending Anderson Cup Champions, Fargo Force at Scheels Arena.
Today's game is set to begin at 6:05pm CT and will be streamed on FloHockey and Storm Radio. Tickets to home games at the Viaero Center may be purchased online by skating to www.StormHockey.com, or by calling the Viaero Center Box Office during Box Office hours at 308-338-8144.
