Penalty-Filled Night Hinders Steel in Loss

The Chicago Steel fell to the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders 5-2 at ImOn Arena Saturday night...It was a one-goal game after two periods before the RoughRiders scored 12 seconds into the third period to widen their lead and silence the Steel...Saturday marked just the second regulation loss for the Steel in the last 13 games and the first Steel loss to Cedar Rapids this season (2-1-0-0)... Chicago's 15 shots on goal were the second-fewest in a game this season (13 against Sioux City on Oct. 27)...The Steel scored a shorthanded goal for the fourth time this season, their second in less than two weeks.
Cornell commit Charlie Major scored the only goals for the Steel in the loss, his 18th (SH), and 19th of the season. The goals moved Major's point streak to three games, with five points in that span. The veteran forward has managed a point in seven of the last eight games and has 14 points in that stretch.
Harvard commit Mick Thompson recorded an assist on Major's shorthanded goal. Thompson has posted an assist in six of the last eight games and has eight assists in that span plus five goals.
New Hampshire commits Price Grimes and Reid Conn each recorded assists for the Steel. It was the first point for Grimes since Nov. 17, a two-assist showing against Cedar Rapids. Conn's assist was his first since Jan. 14. He has a goal and an assist in the last five games.
Nebraska-Omaha commit Louka Cloutier made 23 saves in the loss. The rookie goaltender has just two regulation losses in the last 11 games.
