
Storm Set for Rivalry Game at Ice Box

LINCOLN, NE. - The Tri-City Storm is set for tonight's rivalry game against the Lincoln Stars at the Ice Box following last night's 6-2 road win over the Omaha Lancers at Liberty First Credit Union Arena. The Storm enters tonight's game one point away from clinching a spot in the 2024 Clark Cup Playoffs. Puck drop is scheduled for 6:05pm CT.
Tri-City (27-11-4-5) enters tonight's road game against Lincoln as the 4th place team in the USHL's Western Conference standings. The Storm won a four-goal decision over the Lancers in last night's opening game of the weekend. Jake Rozzi (2), Owen Beckner, Trevor Connelly, Cooper Simpson, and Ryan Smith each scored for Tri-City in the victory. The Storm enters tonight's game with a 3-3-0-2 record in head-to-head games played against the Stars this season. Tri-City is 12-9-1-3 in games played at the Ice Box over the past five seasons, and finished the 2022-2023 regular season with a final head-to-head record of 6-6-0-1 against Lincoln. The Storm improved to 20-4-0-3 when leading after the 1st period, and 21-0-2-0 when leading after the 2nd period this season in last night's 6-2 road win over the Lancers. Tri-City is 17-13-1-3 when outshooting its opponents, and 10-7-3-2 when being outshot this season. Tonight's road game at the Ice Box is the Storm's final game of its current five-game road trip. It will also serve as the team's final matchup of the regular season against the Stars. Scoring leaders for Tri-City entering the final five games of the 2023-2024 regular season include Trevor Connelly (27), Ryan Smith (23), Cam Briere (20), Artemi Nizameyev (15), August Falloon (15), and A.J. Lacroix (15). The Storm returns to action next weekend with back-to-back home games at the Viaero Center against the Sioux Falls Stampede.
Lincoln (24-28-3-2) seeks to protect home ice tonight against Tri-City following last night's 5-1 victory over the Sioux Falls Stampede at the Ice Box. Martin Masa, Justin Mexico, Jack Pechar, Ryan Spinale, and German Yavash each netted a goal during last night's battle. Yan Shostak made 35 saves on 36 shots to record the win in goal for Lincoln. The win for the Stars was just the second in the team's past ten games. Lincoln enters tonight's home game against Tri-City in the final playoff spot in the USHL's Western Conference standings. Scoring leaders for the Stars following last night's 5-1 home win over the Stampede include Keaton Peters (21), Jared Mangan (20), Blake Montgomery (20), Jack Pechar (18), Dashel Oliver (11), and Justin Mexico (10. The Stars will return to action next weekend with back-to-back home games against the Sioux City Musketeers and Omaha Lancers.
