
Rewind: Taking a Look Back at Friday Night's Action in the USHL

Madison scored twice in the last 45 seconds of regulation to tie the game before claiming a 4-3 win in overtime in a USHL game played at Youngstown Friday night.
With the win the Capitols have locked up a spot in the 2024 Clark Cup Playoffs (Youngstown also clinched playoff spot as a result of a loss for Cedar Rapids).
The game stood tied after the initial 20 minutes of action with Andrew Strathman scoring for the Phantoms and Rainers Rullers scoring for the Caps.
After a scoreless second period, Youngstown took a 3-1 third-period lead on goals from Grant Young at 7:03 and Ryan Botterill at 11:49. Max Nagel scored at 19:15 to cut the deficit to one and when Shawn Ramsey found the back of the net at 19:41, the game headed to overtime.
Andrew Kuzma, who also assisted on the game-tying goal, ended the game when he scored at 4:54 of the extra session.
Madison netminder Patriks Berzins finished with 40 saves to get the decision.
Fargo 6, Waterloo 1
The Fargo Force are now back-to-back Anderson Cup champions as the top team in the USHL regular season after picking up a 6-1 win over Waterloo.
With the win the Force stand 46-9-2-0 on the season.
Center Mac Swanson, who accounted for three points on a goal and two assists in the game, has established a Fargo record for most points (73) and assists (48) in a season.
Jake Fisher added two goals for the Force in the win, with singles coming from Masun Fleece, Zam Plante and Lee Parks.
Hampton Slukynsky stopped 31 of 32 shots in upping his record to 26-3-0-0.
Jason Nevers replied for the visiting Black Hawks, who fall to 33-22-0-1 with the loss.
Green Bay 5, Chicago 4
Including the first goal of the game, Ryan Humphrey scored twice to help lead Green Bay to a 5-4 win over Chicago.
Humphrey got the ball rolling when he tallied at 14:28 of the opening period, but after Mick Thompson scored at the 16-minute mark and Michael Emerson tallied at 18:47, Chicago owned a 2-1 lead after the first 20 minutes of play.
Humphrey tallied a second time, knotting the score at 1:35 of the second and when Blake Bechen scored at 3:17, it became a 3-2 Green Bay lead. Ben Yurchuk's power play marker at 12:31 made it a 3-3 game after 40 minutes of play.
The Steel went up by a goal at 2:08 of the third on Thompson's power play marker, but Green closed out the game to get the win on goals from Geno Carcone at 9:30 and Mikey DeAngelo at 19:51.
Adam Gajan had 23 saves for the Gamblers and Quentin Sigurdson finished with 26 stops for the Steel.
Lincoln 5, Sioux Falls 1
Lincoln jumped out a 2-0 first-period lead and added three more tallies in the second period in skating to a 5-1 home win over Sioux Falls.
Martin Masa and Justin Mexico had the first-period goals for the Stars, while Jack Pechar, Ryan Spinale and German Yavash added to the lead in the middle stanza.
Tyler Borgula responded for the Stampede when he scored at 14:50 of the third.
Yan Shostak stopped 35 of 36 shots to pick up the decision for Lincoln.
USA Hockey NTDP U18s 5, Dubuque 4 shootout
Noah Powell scored three times for Dubuque, but it was the USA Hockey NTDP U18s that claimed a 5-4 shootout win in a USHL game played in Dubuque Friday night.
Goals from Will Skahan and James Hagens gave the U18s a 2-0 first-period lead.
Juraj Pekarcik got the Fighting Saints on the board early in the second period, but L.J. Mooney scored at 1:53 as the U18s regained their two-goal cushion. Powell scored twice before the end of the period and after 40 minutes of play the score stood 3-3.
Brendan McMorrow put the U18s up by a goal at 1:55 of the third and Powell sent the game into overtime when he scored his league-best 38th goal of the season at 10:10.
After a scoreless overtime period, Max Plante gave the U18s the win when he was the only player to score in the shootout.
Muskegon 4, Cedar Rapids 1
Matvei Gridin, who leads the USHL in points, had a goal and an assist in leading Muskegon to a 4-1 win over Cedar Rapids Friday.
Gridin had the only goal of the first period and when Sacha Boisvert and Ty Henricks scored in the second, the Lumberjacks held a 3-0 lead after 40 minutes of play.
Haeden Ellis scored his first USHL goal at 14:38 to get the RoughRiders on the board, but Justin Solovey's empty-net goal at 17:57 sealed the win for Muskegon.
Shikhabutdin Gadzhiev had 31 saves to get the win for the Lumberjacks.
Tri-City 6, Omaha 2
Jake Rozzi scored twice and had the game-winning goal in Tri-City's 6-2 win over Omaha.
The Storm held a 1-0 advantage after Owen Becker scored the lone goal of the opening period.
Trevor Connelly and Rozzi scored before the second period was five minutes old to make it 3-0. Nick Pierre cut into the lead when he tallied for Omaha at 5:23, but Tri-City pulled away by scoring three times in the next nine minutes on goals from Cooper Simpson, Rozzi and Ryan Smith.
Sam Scheetz scored for Omaha at 16:04 of the third to close out scoring in the game.
Connelly finished with three points on a goal and two assists and Cameron Korpi stopped 25 of 27 shots to get the win in net for the Storm.
Sioux City 5, Des Moines 1
Samuel Urban was nearly perfect in net and five different players scored goals as Sioux City claimed a 5-1 win over Des Moines.
Des Moines took an early lead on a first-period goal from Ilya Protas, but when Brian Nicholas scored at 14:40, the game stood tied 1-1 at the end of the first.
Colin Kessler and Justin Stupka had second-period goals as the Musketeers took a 3-1 lead.
Gavin Garry's goal at 6:05 and a shorthanded marker from Ty Hanson at 9:13 made it 5-1 and Urban, who finished with 28 saves in the game, closed the door the rest of the way.
Sioux City upped its record to 32-20-6-0 with the win while Des Moines falls to 23-27-5-2.
