Tri-City Storm News Release
SIOUX CITY, IA. - The Tri-City Storm hit the ice this afternoon at the Tyson Events Center in Sioux City, IA in a rematch with the Sioux City Musketeers following last night's thrilling 1-0 overtime victory. Arsenii Sergeev outdueled Musketeer netminder Alex Tracy in a goaltending showdown that ended in a scoreless tie after regulation time. Mitchell Miller notched his fourth goal of the season to give Tri-City the victory. Following today's game at the Tyson Events Center, the Storm will return home to the Viaero Center next weekend for the first of four consecutive home games. Puck drop for today's matchup between the Storm and Musketeers is scheduled for 3:05pm CT.
Tri-City (8-2-0-0, 16 Points) has won eight of its opening ten games of the regular season for the third time in the past five seasons. Mitchell Miller's game-winning goal in overtime last night was assisted by Vinny Borgesi and Ilya Nikolaev. The Storm outshot the Musketeers 30-26 in the game to record the team's first victory of the year in the season series. Today's game is the third matchup of nine scheduled meetings this season between the Storm and the Musketeers. Goalscorers for Tri-City through the opening ten games of the season include Jeremy Wilmer (5), Gavin Brindley (5), Michell Miller (4), Cole O'Hara (3), Lleyton Roed (3), Graham Gamache (3), Ilya Nikolaev (2), Kieran Cebrian (2), Victor Czerneckianair, Tanner Adams, Drew Montgomery, and Dane Dowiak. Tri-City's sixteen goals allowed to this point in the season are the least number of goals given up by any team in the league this year. Sioux City has allowed thirty goals this season, the second least number of goals allowed by a USHL team this season. The Storm has now won three consecutive games for the second time in the 2021-2022 regular season.
Sioux City (6-2-2-1, 15 Points) has collected at least one point in the standings in each of its last seven games after last night's shutout home loss to the Storm. The point streak compiled by the Musketeers is the longest active point streak in the USHL. Alex Tracy made 29 saves on 30 Storm shots in last night's overtime loss and was named the 2nd Star of the game for his efforts in his goaltending battle opposite of Arsenii Sergeev. Last night's contest marked the first time this season that Sioux City has been held off the scoreboard in a game. It was the first shutout Sioux City has suffered in the regular season since being denied a goal on March 14th, 2021, in a 2-0 home loss to the Fargo Force. Sioux City is currently in the midst of a five-game homestand and will host the Fargo Force at the Tyson Events Center in back-to-back games next weekend following this afternoon's battle with the Storm.
Today's game is set to begin at 3:05pm CT and will be streamed on HockeyTV, and Storm Radio. #StormAhead
