
Storm Complete Weekend Sweep of Musketeers

SIOUX CITY, IA. - The Tri-City Storm completed a two-game weekend sweep of the Sioux City Musketeers Sunday afternoon in a 4-1 road win at the Tyson Events Center. Tri-City won a thrilling 1-0 overtime decision on Saturday night and has now won four consecutive games for the second time this season. Andrew Strathmann, Tanner Adams, Cole O'Hara, and Jeremy Wilmer scored for the Storm in the victory. Arsenii Sergeev completed a phenomenal weekend of play in net for Tri-City by stopping 28 of Sioux City's 29 shots on goal in Sunday's win. With the weekend sweep, the Tri-City Storm has now captured sole possession of 1st place in the USHL's Western Conference standings.
Andrew Strathmann scored the first goal of his USHL career at 4:46 of the 1st period to give the Storm a 1-0 lead. Strathmann's goal was netted on the powerplay. Tri-City outshot Sioux City 10-6 in the 1st period and carried a one-goal lead into the 2nd period.
A scoring barrage proved to be the story of Sunday's 2nd period as the Storm netted three 2nd period goals to take a 4-0 lead in the game. Tanner Adams deflected a shot by Mitchell Miller past Musketeers' goaltender Axel Mangbo at 5:58 of the 2nd period to give Tri-City a two-goal lead in the game. Miller recorded the lone assist on the scoring play. With less than seven minutes to play in the 2nd period, Cole O'Hara scored his fourth goal of the season to give the Storm a 3-0 lead in the game. O'Hara's goal was scored at 13:26 of the 2nd period and was assisted by Jeremy Wilmer. Wilmer scored a shorthanded goal with less than twenty seconds to play in the period to give the Storm a four-goal lead. Wilmer's goal was scored at 19:42 of the 2nd period and was assisted by Ilya Nikolaev. The Storm outshot the Musketeers 11-10 in the 2nd period and entered the 3rd period with a 4-0 lead.
The only goal of Sunday's 3rd period was scored by Sioux City's Charlie Schoen. Schoen's goal was netted at 14:21 of the 3rd period and was assisted by Tabor Heaslip and Owen McLaughlin. Sioux City outshot Tri-City 13-4 in the 3rd period and 29-25 in the game. Arsenii Sergeev was named the 1st Star of the game for the second consecutive night.
The Storm penalty kill finished the weekend 12/12 and Tri-City's powerplay was 1/9. The Storm improved to 9-2-0-0 on the season in the victory.
