Tri-City (13-8-0-1) has recorded back-to-back wins against the Lancers this weekend and seek a three-game sweep in tonight's home game at the Viaero Center. On Friday, Tri-City posted a 6-0 shutout of Omaha at the Viaero Center. Caden Villegas scored two goals and Todd Scott recorded his second shutout of the season in goal for the Storm. Guillaume Richard, Cole O'Hara, Josh Eernisse, and Drew Montgomery also scored in the win. The six goals scored in the game by the Storm set a new season high for the team for most goals scored in a single game. Last night at Ralston Arena, the Storm defeated the Lancers to improve to 4-1-0-0 in head-to-head matchups against Omaha this season. Cole McWard, Mark Estapa, and Matthew Knies scored goals in the win. Connor Hopkins recorded his third victory of the season in net. Tri-City enters tonight's game as the 2nd place team in the USHL's Western Conference standings. Omaha lurks just one point behind Tri-City after getting jumped in the standings last night. As the Storm return home to the Viaero Center, Tri-City has outscored its opponents 11-0 in its last two home games.
Omaha (13-11-0-0-0) looks for a bounce back victory today at the Viaero Center after dropping the opening two games of the three-game weekend series. The Lancers have slipped to 3rd place in the Western Conference standings but have the opportunity to retake 2nd place from the Storm with a road win tonight. Ayrton Martino scored Omaha's only goal of the weekend series last night in the 1st period. Omaha surrendered three consecutive goals to drop last night's home game. After defeating the Storm in the opening game of the season series on November 13th by a final score of 5-1, the Lancers have now lost four consecutive regular season games against Tri-City. This is the first time since the 2016-2017 season that Omaha has lost four consecutive games against the Storm in a single season.
Tonight's game is set to begin at 6:05pm CT and will be streamed live on HockeyTV, and Storm Radio. For tickets to Storm home games at the Viaero Center, call 308-338-8144 or visit www.StormHockey.com.
