Fargo Force News Release
The Fargo Force turned the tables on the Lincoln Stars this afternoon in the final game of the weekend. The Force came away with a big 3-0 win thanks to a shut out from Andrew Miller, his first in his USHL career and a solid defensive performance by Fargo, allowing a total of only 12 shots on goal.
The Force went on three different PK's in the first period and were successful in every one of them, shutting down all three of Lincolns power play attempts. With 2:24remaining in period one, the Force were finally able to create the opportunity they had been looking for. Tristan Broz maneuvered a rebound off the end boards and banked it in off the Stars goalie from a sharp angle, giving Fargo their first lead of the weekend.
The second period saw two Force power play opportunities, but Lincoln managed to kill off both, and there was no scoring from either team in the middle frame.
The Force killed of another Lincoln power play early in period three, going 4/4 on the PK in this afternoon's game and 9/10 on the weekend. With 10:53 left to play the Force doubled their lead with a goal from Jeremy Davidson off a perfectly placed pass from Bear Hughes.
Fargo followed that up with another goal three minutes later, this time off a beautifully executed backhanded pass from Bear Hughes to Austin Wong, his eighth goal of the season. The Force came away with a 3-0 win and close out the first half of the USHL season 16-9-2-0 and in 1st place in the Western Conference. Shots on goal were 29-12 in Fargo's favor.
The Force are on the road again next weekend with two games in Waterloo vs. the Blackhawks. Puck drop on Friday night at 7:05 PM.
