Stars Unable to Sweep Force

LINCOLN, Neb. - The Lincoln Stars (8-12-1) came up empty on Sunday afternoon, falling 3-0 against the Fargo Force (16-9-2) at the Ice Box.

The first period consisted of tight-checking defensive play, but Tristan Broz was able to bank the puck off the back of Ryan Ouellette and in for his eighth goal of the season at 17:36. Lincoln was only able to muster two shots on goal through 20 minutes; Fargo had seven shots on net.

The Stars had three power plays in the opening period, but were unable to take advantage. They killed off their lone penalty.

In the second period, the Stars and the Force were hold scoreless. Lincoln once again fired only two shots on goal, but missed the net on several opportunities. Fargo had 12 shots on net in the middle period and Ouellette stopped them all.

Lincoln appeared to tie the game 3:12 into the third period, but the goal was disallowed following a lengthy review. Stanley Cooley kicked the puck into the back of the net after an initial shot from Clay Hanus, according to the officials. The call on the ice was a goal but was changed following a video review. Jeremy Davidson doubled Fargo's lead at 9:06 while Austin Wong made it 3-0 at 12:03.

The Stars were unable to break through Andrew Miller, who picked up his first shutout of the season with 12 saves. Ouellette stopped 26 in the loss. Lincoln's power-play was 0-for-4 and their penalty kill was 4-for-4.
