Geneva, IL. - The Tri-City Storm overpowered the Chicago Steel in a 5-2 win on Sunday afternoon. Tri-City got goals from Keaton Pehrson, Brian Hawkinson, Tyler Madden, Hugo Blixt, and Mike Koster in the win. Jake Barczewski stopped 29 of Chicago's 31 shots to record the win in goal for the Storm.

The game's opening goal was scored less than 90 seconds into the 2nd period by Tri-City's Keaton Pehrson. The goal from Pehrson was his 4th of the season and was unassisted. The Storm and the Steel played a scoreless 1st period with Tri-City outshooting Chicago 8-7. Chicago answered with a goal at the 16:50 mark of the 2nd period to tie the game at 1-1. Nick Abruzzese scored his 10th goal of the season with the assist going to Robert Mastrosimone. The Storm and the Steel ended the 2nd period tied at 1-1 with Tri-City outshooting Chicago 19-15.

Tri-City broke the tie just 2:28 into the 3rd period when Captain Brian Hawkinson netted his 6th goal of the season. The go ahead tally was assisted by Hugo Blixt and Chase McLane. Tyler Madden continued the Tri-City scoring just 12 seconds later as he scored his team leading 15th goal of the year. Bryan Yoon and Jake Crespi assisted on Madden's goal at 2:40 of the 3rd period. The Storm kept the offense going with another strike the 8:19 mark of the period by Hugo Blixt. The goal by Blixt was his 8th of the season and gave the Storm a 4-1 lead. The Chicago Steel would briefly halt the Storm's scoring onslaught with a goal by Baker Shore at the 10:28 mark of the 3rd period to bring the Steel deficit back to two goals. Tri-City's Mike Koster fired a power play goal past Steel goaltender Justin Robbins minutes later to increase the Storm's lead back to three goals. The goal at 15:10 of the 3rd period was the first career USHL goal for Mike Koster and was assisted by Adam Goodsir. Tri-City would hold Chicago off the board for the remainder of the game to seal a 5-2 victory. Jake Barczewski improved to 9-7-1-1 in the win.

The Storm return to action Friday night in a home matchup with the Sioux Falls Stampede. The broadcast will begin at 7:15pm on HockeyTV and the Breeze 94.5FM. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:35pm.
