Seattle Storm News Release

SEATTLE - Four Storm players will visit local libraries this week to read to children and discuss life as a professional athlete, the team announced today. The Reading Timeouts are part of the WNBA's Read to Achieve program, as well as the Storm Read to Achieve program, sponsored locally by Starbucks Coffee.

Storm center Suzy Batkovic and guard Tanisha Wright will visit the Magnolia Library (2801 34th Ave. W) on July 12 at 3:30 p.m., while center Janell Burse and forward Lauren Jackson will be at the Columbia Library (4721 Rainier Ave. S) on July 14 at 4:30 p.m. The players will distribute books and prizes to all children in attendance and will be available for autographs after the reading session.

Read to Achieve is a year-round, league-wide initiative supported by all 30 NBA teams, 13 WNBA teams, and 6 NBDL teams that promotes the value of reading and on-line literacy and encourages families and adults to read regularly with young children. It is the most extensive educational outreach initiative in the history of professional sports. The program includes the annual donation of more than 200,000 books through a variety of reading events and book fairs, as well as the development of essay contests and on-line programs and the creation of Reading and Learning centers throughout North America.

Single-game tickets for upcoming Storm games are still available and can be purchased through TicketMaster, by logging on to storm.wnba.com or by calling 1-877-WNBA-TIX. Storm tickets are also available at the Sonics & Storm Team Shop located at 312 First Ave on KeyArena's West Plaza.

The Seattle Sonics & Storm manages the Puget Sound region's professional basketball franchises - the NBA's Seattle SuperSonics and the WNBA's Seattle Storm. The organization oversees all sales, marketing, finance, public relations and basketball operations for the teams. The Basketball Club of Seattle LLC owns both teams.
