STING NEWS AND NOTES

FAMILY FUN SUNDAY

The Sting will host Family Fun Sunday on July 17 as they take on the Houston Comets at 4 p.m. Musical artist Romeo will be on hand to perform a post-game concert while the first 2,500 fans will receive team shorts courtesy of Head & Shoulders. Kids 14 and under will be admitted FREE with a paying adult (Limit two kids per adult).

STING MAKE ROSTER MOVES

The Sting signed free agents Caity Matter and Ayana Walker on July 6. In conjunction with these moves, the Sting waived Tynesha Lewis and Jessica Moore and placed Kelly Mazzante on the Injured List with right knee tendinitis.

SMITH PERFORMING WELL

Sting forward Tangela Smith recorded her fifth consecutive game in double figures as she posted 15 points on July 7 vs. Minnesota. Over the last five games, Smith is averaging 16.8 points and 5.8 rebounds on 44.0% (37-84) shooting from the floor.

FEASTER FROM THREE

In the last two games, Allison Feaster has found her stroke from three-point range. After setting her season-high with 17 points on July 2 in Houston, she topped that mark five days later with 19 points vs. Minnesota on Thursday, July 7. In each of those games, she connected on a season-high as well as a WNBA season-high five three-point field goals. Over the course of those two games, Feaster is averaging 18.0 points on 62.5% (10-16) shooting from three-point range.

STING IN WINS

In their three wins this season the Sting are averaging 72.3 points while shooting 49.1% from the field and 47.2% from three-point range. In their losses the Sting are averaging 57.0 points while shooting 37.7% from the field and 34.8% from behind the arc.

WNBA ALL-STAR IN THE BOOKS

The WNBA hosted their sixth All-Star game at the Mohegan Sun Arena this past weekend. In the highest scoring game in All-Star history, the West posted a 122-99 victory over the Eastern Conference squad. Selected as a starter by the fans, Sting guard Dawn Staley posted two points, four assists and two rebounds in 18 minutes for the Eastern Conference squad. This was Staley's fourth All-Star appearance and her third as a starter.

BREAST HEALTH AWARENESS AUCTION

The 2005 WNBA Breast Health Awareness Auction is underway. Fans can log onto www.wnba.com to bid on exclusive merchandise including an autographed Janel McCarville Sting jersey, an autographed Sting ball and an autographed Raymond Felton Bobcats draft hat.

NEW CHARLOTTE ARENA JOB FAIR

The New Charlotte Arena will be looking for more than 600 part-time employees as they host a two-day job fair on Friday, July 15 from 11 a.m. - 7 p.m. and Saturday, July 16 from 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. at the Charlotte Convention Center. Applicants attending the job fair will be asked to fill out an application and come dressed professionally for on-the-spot interviews.

STING ON TV

The Sting at Washington game on August 2 will be broadcast on ESPN 2 at 8 p.m.

All 34 regular season games can be heard live on WNMX 106.1 FM. Veteran announcer Sam Smith will call all the action for the third consecutive season.
