THIS WEEK'S GAMES:
BACK-TO-BACKS: The Silver Stars will play two sets of back-to-back games this year...San Antonio will travel to Sacramento to open up the second half of the season at Sacramento on 7/14 before making the trip to Seattle on 7/15...the Silver Stars next set of back-to-backs comes on 8/8 and 8/9 when the team travels to Sacramento before turning around and heading to Phoenix the following night...last year San Antonio played three sets of back-to-backs losing all four games in the first two sets before winning the both games in the last set...in their history San Antonio is 32-46 (15-25 in Game 1 and 17-22 in Game 2) in back-to-back games.
PEE WEE PUTTING HER MARK ON WNBA HISTORY: With her next basket Shannon "Pee Wee" Johnson will become just the 21st player in WNBA history to eclipse the 2,500 point-plateau...she is also just 43 assists away from reaching 1,000 for her WNBA career...she will become the first player in league history to score more than 2,000 points and hand out 1,000 assists for her career...Sacramento's Ticha Penicheiro, Charlotte's Dawn Staley and former New York Liberty and Los Angeles Sparks' guard Teresa Weatherspoon all have over 1,000 assists, but none of them have cracked the 2,000 point plateau.
HEY NOW YOU'RE AN ALL-STAR: Marie Ferdinand represented the Silver Stars and the city of San Antonio this past weekend at the 2005 WNBA All-Star Game held at the Mohegan Sun Casino in Uncasville, CT. ... Marie,who was making her third consecutive All- Star appearance, participated in the WNBA All-Stars Skill Challenge on Friday before tallying 10 points and two steals in 13 mintues of action for the West Squad who won 122-99.
Thursday, July 14 at Sacramento Monarchs @ ARCO Arena 1:30 p.m. KSJL 810AM
This will mark the second of four meetings between the Silver Stars and Monarchs. San Antonio lost the previous meeting between the two teams 71-67 back on 5/27, but had four players score in double-digits including a team-high 17 points by Marie Ferdinand who also grabbed a career-high eight rebounds.
Overall, Sacramento leads the all-time series 16-13. The teams will meet twice more during the regular season when the Monrachs make the trip to the Alamo City on 8/2 before the Silver Stars return to Sacramento to close out the series on 8/18.
Friday, July 15 at Seattle Storm @ KeyArena 9:00 p.m. WB 35/ KSLJ 810AM
This will be the third of four meetings between the Silver Stars and the Storm in 2005. Seattle won the first contest this season 79-51 in Seattle on 5/29, but San Antonio took the second game with a 81-69 victory at home on 6/30.
All five starters scored in double-digits, helping San Antonio score a season-high 81 points. Dalma Ivanyi had a career-high five steals and Marie Ferdiand had a season-high six assists. With its last win, San Antonio tied up the all-time series record at 9-9. These two teams will conclude their regular season series on 8/23 when the Storm travel to San Antonio.

SILVER STARS COACHES TO HOST COACHES' CLINIC
The San Antonio Silver Stars coaching staff will be hosting a free coaches' clinic on Monday, July 18 at Antioch Sports Complex from 6-9 p.m. The clinic gives middle school and high school coaches from San Antonio and the surrounding communities a chance to learn new drills and hear coaching tips from Silver Stars head coach Dan Hughes and his staff.
