
Storm Drop Road Contest to Lancers 2-1

RALSTON, NE. - The Tri-City Storm dropped a road contest to the Omaha Lancers by a final score of 2-1 Friday night at Ralston Arena. Josh Eernisse netted Tri-City's only goal in the loss. The Storm returns to action tomorrow in a road game against the Sioux Falls Stampede. Puck drop for the game is scheduled for 6:05pm CT.
Vincent Salice scored the only goal of Friday's 1st period and was scored at 6:37 to put the Lancers ahead 1-0. The goal was Salice's fourth of the season and was assisted by Luke Strickland and Ryan Gillespie. Tri-City outshot Omaha 12-9 in the opening period but trailed by one goal entering the 2nd period.
Josh Eernisse netted his second goal of the season at 1:49 of the 2nd period to bring the game to a 1-1 tie. Kieran Cebrian and Dane Dowiak each notched an assist on the play. Cebrian's assist was his third of the season. The assist by Dowiak was his first of the year. The Storm outshot the Lancers 8-4 in the 2nd period and the 3rd period began in a 1-1 tie.
With under six minutes to play in Friday's 3rd period, Morgan Winters scored the game-winning goal for Omaha. Winters' goal was his fourth of the season and first since being acquired by the Lancers in a mid-season transaction with the Youngstown Phantoms. The goal was scored at 14:21 of the 3rd period and was assisted by Nolan Hayes and Hunter McDonald. Omaha outshot Tri-City 10-6 in the 3rd period but was outshot 26-23 overall in the game.
Arsenii Sergeev recorded the loss in net for Tri-City after making 21 saves on 23 shots. Kevin Pasche notched his ninth win of the season in goal for Omaha in a 25 save on a 26 shot performance. Tri-City has won three of the opening five games in this year's ten-game season series against Omaha. The Storm dropped to 15-4-1-0 in the loss. Tri-City currently holds a five-point advantage over the Lancers for 1st place in the USHL's Western Conference and continues to boast the best winning percentage in the league (.775%).
