
Storm Drop Final Game of Weekend to Lincoln

Lincoln, NE - The Tri-City Storm were shutout by rival Lincoln by a final score of 3-0 Sunday afternoon at the Ice Box. The Stars netted two first period goals and added a goal in the 3rd period. Tri-City dropped to 10-4-1-0 in the loss, and remains in 4th place in the USHL Western Conference standings.
Shane Pinto started the scoring for the Stars less than two minutes into the game on a goal assisted by Caleb Rule. The goal by Pinto was his 8th of the season and was scored at the 1:28 mark of the period. Caleb Rule netted his 6th goal of the game minutes later to give the Stars a two goal lead. Rule's goal was assisted by Shane Pinto and Josiah Slavin. Each team registered 10 shots on goal in the 1st period, and Lincoln carried a 2-0 lead into the 2nd period.
No goals were scored in the 2nd period, and Lincoln's Pinto scored his 9th goal of the season and 2nd goal of the game in the 3rd period to give the Stars a 3-0 win on home ice. Lincoln's Jacob Mucitelli recorded his 1st career shutout in the win, and Jake Barczewski recorded the loss in net for the Storm, making 23 saves on 26 shots. Today's game marked the first time this season that the Storm offense was held off the scoreboard. The loss for Tri-City was also its first loss at the Ice Box this season. Two of the Storm's next four games will be played at the Ice Box against the Stars. The Storm return home on Friday, November 23rd in a matchup with rival Omaha following two upcoming road games against Waterloo and Lincoln. Despite today's loss, Tri-City has won 10 of its first 15 games to start the season.
