Sioux City Musketeers News Release

SIOUX CITY,IA - The Musketeers were back home on Saturday night for Military Appreciation night seeking their fourth straight win. Thanks to another Bobby Brink hat-trick and an excellent performance from Jake Sibell, the Musketeers would get their victory, winning tonight by a final score of 4-2.

It was a slow start for the Musketeers tonight and the Stars managed to take advantage early. Grant managed to get one by Sibell on the short side at the 7:54 mark to give Lincoln the early 1-0 lead. The Musketeers struggled to get much going in the period and would head into the locker room down a goal.

Sioux City slowly found their footing as the game progressed in the 2nd period and it would be the same man who started the scoring last game getting it started tonight.

Kevin Lombardi made another excellent play to force a Stars turnover. He picked up the puck and fired it past Jacob Mucitelli to tie the game up at one. Sioux City wouldn't score the rest of period but controlled play, and that would continue in to the 3rd period.

Sioux City would get called for an early trip in the period but Sioux City refused to sit back on their heels, and it would prove fruitful.

Bobby Brink managed to slip behind the Stars defense just as Sioux City caused a turnover, and he's one player you certainly don't want to lose sight of. Jordan Steinmetz hit Brink with a pass and he skated in all alone on Mucitelli. Brink finished off the breakaway with his ninth goal of the season to put the Musketeers ahead 2-1. It would be Brink again just four minutes later on the powerplay to put the Musketeers up 3-1. Parker Ford and Marcus Kallionkieli had the assists on the play.

Lincoln would make things interesting late in the third with a goal from Josiah Slavin but it wouldn't be enough. Brink scored on the empty net at the 18:18 mark to secure his second hat-trick in three games and secure the win for Sioux City.

Jake Sibell earned the first win of his USHL career in his first start, stopping 17 of the 19 shots sent his way by the Stars. Mucitelli stopped 21 of 24 shots sent his way.

With his big performance tonight, Bobby Brink is now tied with Martin Pospisil for the league lead in points with 26. This should be a fun battle to watch all year long-as long as you're a Musketeer fan.

Sioux City will head out on the road for one game on Friday to take on the Des Moines Buccaneers who are currently riding a hot streak of their own. Puck drop is set for 7:05pm, be sure to tune in on HockeyTV or 620 KMNS.
