Madison Capitols News Release
Middleton, WI - The Madison Capitols (3-7-0-2) three-game point-streak was snapped in a 3-1 loss to the Chicago Steel (5-7-1-0) on Saturday night at Bob Suter's Capitol Ice Arena. The Steel are now 2-0 in a five-game season series against the Capitols.
Chicago got on the board less than two minutes into the contest thanks to Adam Robbins' third tally of the season. Two more goals less only 41 seconds apart midway through the opening period made it 3-0 and was all the offense Chicago needed in the victory.
TJ Koufis highlighted an otherwise unproductive first period as he was able to help turn the tides shortly after Chicago's third goal. Koufis and Timothy Clifton dropped the gloves before Koufis dropped Clifton like a sack of potatoes.
Momentum was in favor of Madison in the second period, as Carson Bantle netted their lone goal of the contest. Kristoff Papp intercepted a pass in his own zone and made a hail mary pass down the ice to Bantle. With two steps on the closest defender, Bantle lifted a backhander past Justin Robbins for his third goal of the season.
The remaining 33 minutes went scoreless as the teams traded off chances left and right. Joe Lamoreaux made 17 saves of the night, but fell to 3-6-0-1 on the season with a .928 save percentage.
Madison returns to action next weekend when the Chicago Steel come back to town on Friday to finish off the season series at Capitol Ice Arena. Game time is 7:05 pm with the doors opening at 6:00 pm. If you can't make it out to the game, make sure to follow along on HockeyTV and the Madison Capitols Channel on Mixlr.
