Kearney, NE. - The Tri-City Storm won a thrilling game at the Viaero Center on Saturday night to open "Welcome Back the Storm Weekend". Victor Czerneckianair scored an overtime game winning goal to give Tri-City a 3-2 win in its 2020 Home Opener. Carter Mazur and Morgan Winters also scored goals during the game and Todd Scott recorded the win in net. Tri-City returns to action tomorrow in a home game against the Waterloo Black Hawks. Tickets are available and can be purchased online at www.StormHockey.com . Puck drops tomorrow at 4:05pm.

Zach Urdahl gave the Lincoln Stars a 1-0 lead at the 9:00 mark of the 1st period on a goal assisted by Dominic James. It was the only scoring play of the 1st period, and despite being outshot 9-3 by the Storm, Lincoln carried a 1-0 lead into the 2nd period. Tri-City's Morgan Winters provided the game-tying goal at 3:15 of the 2nd period on a goal assisted by Parker Lindauer and Caden Villegas. The assists for both Lindauer and Villegas were the first assists and first points in their USHL careers. The goal by Winters was his first career goal in the USHL. Carter Mazur gave Tri-City a 2-1 lead on a shorthanded goal with under two minutes to play in the 2nd period. The goal was assisted by Kyle Aucoin at was scored at the 18:25 mark of the 2nd period. Tri-City outshot Lincoln 10 to 1 in the 2nd period and carried a one goal lead into the 3rd period.

The only goal of the 3rd period was scored shorthanded by Lincoln's Zach Urdahl at the 7:05 mark of the period. Tri-City out shot Lincoln 9-5 in the 3rd period and the game entered overtime in a 2-2 tie. Thirty-seven seconds into overtime, Tri-City's Victor Czerneckianair scored his first career USHL goal to give the Storm a 3-2 win. Tri-City outshot Lincoln 29-9 and improved to 2-1-0-0 in the 2020-2021 regular season.

A limited amount of tickets are available for tomorrow's game against the Waterloo Black Hawks. Seating capacity at the Viaero Center will be limited to 25%. Fans wishing to attend the game are strongly encouraged to purchase tickets online or at the Viaero Center Box Office in advance. Masks are required to enter the arena, while walking on the concourse, in the restrooms, and while in line at the concession stands. Although masks are not required once you are sitting down in the seats, the Tri-City Storm & the Viaero Center strongly recommend masks are worn while seated.
