Guelph Storm News Release

This past weekend was an exciting one for the Storm, who were able to pick up four important, inter-Divisional points, defeating the Erie Otters 10-2 at home on Friday night and the following night edging the Owen Sound Attack 5-3 in Owen Sound.

Friday night, the Storm opened the scoring quickly with both Ben Harpur and Tanner Richard getting their first OHL goals just over two minutes into the first period. Zack Mitchell would get his first of the game before the Storm closed the period 3-0. In the second, Erie chipped away at that lead, scoring two, before Mitchell answered again and Ryan Horvat scored a pair to make it 6-2. The third period was all Storm, with Cody McNaughton, Kyle Pereira, and Francis Menard finding the back of the net and Mitchell completing his hat trick.

The next evening the team renewed their Highway 6 rivalry with the Attack in Owen Sound. Continuing on his scoring streak, Mitchell got the first goal of the game, before the Attack would make it 2-1 by the end of the opening period. Then, after Richard and the Attack's Jarrod Maiden's traded goals early in the second, Guelph broke away when Scott Kosmachuk, Horvat, and Patrick Watling (his first career OHL goal) all scoring for the Storm. That would be all of the scoring for the game, as netminder, Garret Sparks, held off the Attack in the third.

Coming up this holiday weekend, the Storm have a pair of home games, with the Brampton Battalion visiting on Friday night at 7:30 and the Saginaw Spirit in town on Sunday at 12:00 pm.
