Omaha Storm Chasers News Release
OMAHA, Neb. - The Omaha Storm Chasers proudly announce that from Friday, June 29 through Monday, July 2, the Chasers will host a Front Office Staff Silent Auction from which the proceeds will go to the National ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis) Registry's ALS Walk that is to be held at Werner Park on Saturday, August 18 at 10 a.m. with registration and check-in beginning at 9 a.m. Thanks to the silent auction, the money made from the bids will sponsor the Storm Chasers Team that will participate in the ALS Walk while the winning bidder for each member of the staff will be able to use the talents of the Storm Chasers front office member they bid on for their leisure. In addition to the silent auction, the first 500 fans in to Werner Park on each day of the auction will receive a free ALS Registry foam baseball.
Bidding tables will be located along the main concourse from the 29th of June until five minutes after the post-game First National Bank Independence Fireworks on Monday July 2nd. The winners will be contacted within several days of the end of the auction.
The Tribute to Our Military Heroes campaign is designed to raise awareness of ALS and the National ALS Registry during Minor League Baseball games across the country. The campaign includes a variety of game day activities focused on ALS and also brings new attention to the disease by highlighting the fact that veterans are twice as likely to develop ALS as the general public. In addition to the auction, on Monday, the Storm Chasers will recreate Lou Gehrig's famous speech in which he declared that "I am the luckiest man on the face of the Earth," while being forced to retire from baseball due to his battle with ALS, the disease that would later bare his name. For tickets for any of the four games between June 29 and July 2 or any other event at Werner Park, contact the Werner Park Ticket Office at (402) 738-5100 or visit www.omahastormchasers.com.
