
Zephyrs Lose Big Lead and Drop Game in Omaha

PAPILLION, Nebraska - The Omaha Storm Chasers scored eight unanswered runs to overcome a 5-0 deficit to defeat the New Orleans Zephyrs 8-5 at Werner Park.
The Zephyrs jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the contest. Donnie Murphy hit a solo home run in the first inning to take a 1-0 advantage. New Orleans catcher Steve Holm homered in the third inning to give the Z's a 2-0 lead. Matt Dominguez smacked a 2 out 2 run single and the Zephyrs led Omaha 5-0.
Former UNO Privateer star Johnny Giavotella had a two out single in the third inning and Wil Myers followed up with a two run home run.
The Chasers sent eight batters to the plate in the fourth inning scoring four runs. Lorenzo Cain two run home run catapulted Omaha into the lead 6-4. The Storm Chasers added a pair of unearned runs in the fifth and eighth innings to extend the lead to 8-5.
Omaha reliever Blaine Hardy pitched three scoreless innings to earn the victory. The Z's Tom Koehler pitched four innings allowed seven runs, six earned for the loss.
The Zephyrs have dropped six of nine games at Werner Park, over the past two seasons.
Game Notes - Kevin Mattison snapped a eight game hit streak, a season best for the centerfielder. The Zephyrs fall to 4-6 on travel days. Matt Dominguez is batting .364 (12x33) with 4Home Runs and 13 RBI in nine games at Werner Park. Zephyrs infielder Gil Velazquez was placed on the suspended list.
Coming Up: The Zephyrs and Omaha Storm Chasers meet in the second game of the three game set Thursday at 7:05. The Z's will send RH Elih Villanueva (3-3, 4.50) against LH Mike Montgomery (3-4, 4.76). TV: CST Channel 37
