Tri-City Storm News Release

Kearney, NE. - The Tri-City Storm has announced its home and away schedule for the 2018-2019 regular season. With today's release, the schedule is set for the nineteenth season in the history of the Tri-City Storm organization. The Storm's home opener at the Viaero Center is scheduled for October 12th against the Des Moines Buccaneers.

Tri-City's season will begin at the 2018 USHL Fall Classic in Cranberry Township, Pennsylvania just outside of Pittsburgh. All seventeen USHL member clubs will play their first two games of the regular season at the UPMC Lemieux Sports Complex from Sept 27th-30th. Teams playing regular season games at the Fall Classic is a major change from the format of previous seasons. Past versions of the event have included preseason games that did not count towards the league standings. In April, the USHL announced that the league regular season schedule would be expanded from sixty games to sixty two games, with each team playing two regular season games at the 2018 USHL Fall Classic. Start times and opponents for all games at the event will be announced by the USHL at a later date. Today's schedule release by Tri-City, and all USHL member clubs, consists of the thirty home games and thirty away games that will follow the season opening event outside of Pittsburgh.

Tri-City will play its first true road game of the year at Ralston Arena, against the Omaha Lancers, on October 6th. The Storm will host the Des Moines Buccaneers on October 12th in Tri-City's home opener at the Viaero Center in Kearney. Tri-City will battle rival Lincoln nine times during the regular season, with the Storm hosting five of the nine games in the season series. The Omaha Lancers will be another in state rival Tri-City will see multiple times throughout the 2018-2019 regular season. The Storm and the Lancers will faceoff nine times, with Tri-City hosting five of the nine matchups. In addition to matchups with Lincoln and Omaha, the Storm will faceoff against Western Conference opponents Des Moines, Fargo, Sioux City, Sioux Falls, and Waterloo. After serving as the Storm's home opener on October 12th, the Des Moines Buccaneers will battle the Storm six additional times during the regular season. Tri-City will host the defending Clark Cup Champion Fargo Force December 7th-8th. The Friday night matchup in that series will mark the first time in nearly three years that Tri-City has played host to a defending league champion at the Viaero Center. The Storm will face the Force an additional two times in the regular season, with both games scheduled for the following weekend at Scheels Arena in Fargo. Tri-City and Sioux Falls will also battle a total of four times with each team hosting two games. Tri-City will play the Sioux City Musketeers a total of seven times during the regular season, with Sioux City hosting four of the seven matchups. In total, Tri-City will play forty four of its sixty two regular season games against teams from the Western Conference.

The Storm will play eight home games against teams from the Eastern Conference during the 2018-2019 regular season. Home matchups for Tri-City against Eastern Conference teams include; Chicago, Cedar Rapids, Green Bay, Muskegon, and Youngstown. The Storm travels to Cedar Rapids, Iowa on April 6th for its lone road matchup against the RoughRiders. The defending Eastern Conference Champion Youngstown Phantoms will visit the Viaero Center on January 25th in the only scheduled matchup between the Storm and Phantoms this season. Tri-City will host a two game series against Muskegon in January, and another against Green Bay the following month. The 2017 Clark Cup Champion Chicago Steel will visit the Viaero Center for two matchups against the Storm on February 22nd & 23rd.

Tri-City's longest homestand of the season begins November 30th against and concludes December 13th. The Storm will play five straight home games during that stretch against Sioux Falls, Cedar Rapids, Fargo and Lincoln. Tri-City's longest road stretch of the season includes six consecutive games away from home from March 22nd to April 6th. The Storm will travel to road matchups against Dubuque, Sioux City, and Cedar Rapids during that stretch before returning home for the final weekend of the regular season.
