Chicago Steel 2018-2019 Regular Season Schedule Announced

GENEVA, Ill. - The Chicago Steel, in conjunction with the United States Hockey League, announced Friday the team's schedule for the 2018-2019 regular season, including Home Opening Weekend October 5 and 6. The weekend includes games Friday, Oct. 5 against Cedar Rapids and a matchup with Green Bay on Saturday, Oct. 6.

This season's schedule has expanded to 62 games with all teams starting the season with two games at the Fall Classic from September 27 to 30 in Cranberry Township, Pa. The Steel will play 30 home games at the Fox Valley Ice Arena in Geneva.

Chicago is set to face every team in the league at least twice with the most being seven matchups against Central Illinois.

KEY GAMES:

- First Round Rematch: Chicago and Muskegon will relive last season's three-game opening round series when the Steel return to L.C. Walker Arena in October. The Steel charged back from a Game One loss to win the series in three games, all of which were played in Muskegon.

- CCM World Invite Games: The Steel will play the Green Bay Gamblers and Muskegon Lumberjacks during the CCM World Hockey Invite in Chicago, the world's largest hockey tournament in one location.

- Fan Appreciation Night: The Steel close out the regular season home schedule against the Central Illinois Flying Aces for the annual Fan Appreciation Night.

Fans will see the Steel frequently after Christmas as the team has home games on six-consecutive weekends from December 29 to February 2. The Steel also host eight home games during the month of March, including the team's longest consecutive streak of home games (5) this season.

Chicago's longest road trip will be a three-game weekend with Friday and Saturday games at Tri-City (Kearney, Neb.) and a Sunday game at Omaha.

USHL Fall Classic opponents, dates, and times - as well as information on preseason games - will be announced soon. This year's playoff format will remain the same as last season, with the top six teams from each Conference making the playoffs. The USHL Playoffs are slated to begin April 15, 2019.

All Steel home games are scheduled to begin at 7:05 p.m. with the exception of two Sunday home games, Jan. 27 and March 24, scheduled for 3:05 p.m. puck drop. The Steel are preparing the 2018-2019 promotions schedule to be released in the coming weeks, which will include theme nights, giveaways and more.

Season ticket plans, starting at just 5 games for $45 are on sale now and the Steel are accepting deposits for group tickets. Single-game tickets start at just $10 and on-sale information will be announced soon.
