Black Hawks Announce 2018/19 Schedule
July 13, 2018 - United States Hockey League (USHL)
Waterloo Black Hawks News Release
Waterloo, Iowa - The 2017/18 Anderson Cup Champion Waterloo Black Hawks will try to stay atop the United States Hockey League during a new season as they take the ice for the first of 62 games as part of the USHL Falls Classic in the final days of September.
During the 21st century, only the Green Bay Gamblers (2008/09 and 2009/10) and Lincoln Stars (1999/2000 and 2000/01) have posted the USHL's best record in consecutive years, thus claiming back-to-back Anderson Cups. In April, the Hawks won a thrilling race for the title on the final night of the regular season, capping the slate with a record of 38-14-8.
The new 2018/19 schedule begins with two neutral site matchups; for the first time, games during the USHL Fall Classic in Pittsburgh will count toward the standings. Specific dates, times, and opponents for the event will be released soon. After opening the season there, Waterloo will skate in a hostile building for the first time at Des Moines versus the Buccaneers on October 5th.
Waterloo's performance at Young Arena last season was vital to winning the Anderson Cup. The Hawks were a league-best 22-7-1 at home. A 30-game home schedule starts against the Green Bay Gamblers on Saturday, October 13th.
Black Hawks 2018/19 season tickets are currently available for as little as $29 per month for adults and just $99 for the entire year for kids aged 12 and under. Single game tickets will go on sale later this summer. Fans will also be able to reserve the Budweiser Hospitality Area, as well as the new Lincoln Savings Bank and SingleSpeed Brewing Luxury Suites, during the coming weeks.
After the home opener on October 13th, the new schedule is highlighted by several other notable nights at Young Arena, including:
- October 26th and 27th, a playoff rematch weekend versus the Fargo Force
- November 22nd, Waterloo's traditional Thanksgiving game and the first of four home dates versus the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders
- December 7th, with a remembrance of Pearl Harbor as the Hawks host the Madison Capitols
- February 1st and 2nd, when the Hawks go green during John Deere Weekend
