Stoddard Scores Four in RiverKings Rout of Wichita

(Southaven, MS) -- The Mississippi RiverKings defeated the Wichita Thunder 9-2 in Central Hockey League action on Tuesday night at the DeSoto Civic Center in Southaven. The RiverKings won their second straight game and moved within one point of second place Oklahoma City in the Northeast Division standings with the victory.

The nine goals were the most scored by Mississippi in one game this season.

RiverKings' forward Darrell Stoddard scored four goals, all in the third period of the Tuesday night blowout of the Thunder. Two of the third period goals from Stoddard came on the power play, as he scored the most goals by one RiverKings player in one game and in one period of the entire season.

RiverKings' forward Bobby Chaumont added a goal and three assists, Matt Pierce scored a pair of goals and Dallas Steward chipped in with three assists for Mississippi.

Joe Markusen and Louis Dumont also scored red-lighters to complete the Mississippi offense for the night.

Jason Duda and Greg Cassista scored the only goals of the night for Wichita.

Kevin Beech won his 22nd game of the season in goal for the RiverKings, stopping 26 shots on net. Wichita's Krister Toews made 34 saves in the losing effort for the Thunder.

The RiverKings were 3-for-7 on the power play, Wichita was 0-for-5. Mississippi outshot the Thunder 43 to 28.

Next up for the RiverKings will be the Southwest Division-leading Odessa Jackalopes at the DeSoto Civic Center on Friday night, beginning at 7:05 PM. Tickets are available through the DCC box office and Ticketmaster. Group tickets are available through the RiverKings offices at 662-342-1755.
