Laredo's Showdown Victory Over Texas Earns Weekly Award

The Central Hockey League (CHL) announced today that the Laredo Bucks have won the CHL Performance of the Week for the second straight week. This time, the Bucks win due to a team effort in their 5-4 shootout win versus the Southeast Division leading Texas Brahmas on January 21st. Laredo erased a 4-1 deficit with a goal late in the second period, two goals in the third period and the game winner, scored by Mike Gooch, in a shootout.

The Bucks edged out Bossier-Shreveport's Travis Clayton by 46 votes in the poll. Laredo received 906 of the 2003 votes cast (45%) and Clayton earned 860 votes (43%) for his four-point game on January 22nd.

In last week's poll, Jeff Bes recording his 900th career point earned the CHL's Performance of the Week.

The Bucks are currently sitting in second place in the Southeast Division with a 24-14-4 record.

The nominees for the CHL Performance of the Week for week 15 of the season (Jan. 26-Feb. 2) are as follows:

-Mississippi's Kevin Beech making 26 saves earning his league-leading third shutout, a 4-0 victory over Rapid City on January 31st

-Arizona's Adam Perry scoring a hat trick in 4-2 victory over Rocky Mountain on January 28th

-Amarillo's 6-5 shootout win at Colorado on January 28th

-Texas four-goal third period in 4-2 win at Corpus Christi on January 29th

-Laredo's Sebastien Centomo winning a 1-0 decision while making 28 saves versus RGV on January 29th

Fans can vote for the winner through Monday, February 9th with the winner being announced on Tuesday, February 10th.
