Mississippi's Kevin Beech Named Sher-Wood CHL Goaltender of the Month

The Central Hockey League announced today that Kevin Beech of the Mississippi RiverKings has been named the Sher-Wood/Central Hockey League Goaltender of the Month for the month of January/2009. Beech will receive a Sher-Wood/CHL logoed portable DVD player, courtesy of Sher-Wood, to recognize his accomplishment.

The RiverKings netminder has twice been named the Oakley/CHL Player of the Month (November 10th and January 12th).

Beech went 8-2-2 during the month with a league-best 1,83 goals against average and a .927 save percentage. He also finished the month with a league-high two shutouts. The Brantford, Ontario native allowed two goals or fewer in eight of the 12 games he played in during January. For the season, Beech ranks second in the CHL with 21 wins, second with 2.35 goals against average and has played a league-high 1988:54 minutes.

Other players receiving consideration for the Sher-Wood/CHL Goaltender of the Month for January include Arizona's Marco Emond, Bossier-Shreveport's Ken Carroll, Colorado's Andrew Penner, Odessa's Jeremy Symington, Oklahoma City's Doug Groenestege, Rio Grande Valley's Wylie Rogers, Rocky Mountain's Scott Reid and Texas' Brett Jaeger.
