Stockton Snaps South Bay's Win Streak at Four

EL SEGUNDO, Calif. - Despite an exceptional 31-point performance from Lakers two-way guard Mason Jones, the South Bay Lakers (12-6), the G League affiliate of the Los Angeles Lakers, fell to the Stockton Kings (10-10), 119-105, on Saturday night at the UCLA Health Training Center.

A fast-paced opening quarter favored the Kings, outscoring South Bay 12-2 on the fast break. Stockton held a five-point lead going into the second frame, 35-30, and the Kings would only build on that lead in the following 12 minutes. Mason Jones helped keep South Bay in the game with 16 points in the first half, including three three-pointers, but Stockton took a commanding 68-52 advantage heading into the break.

South Bay locked in on defense in the third quarter, holding Stockton to just 20 points. Mason Jones was a perfect 4-4 on field goals in the frame for 12 points, but Stockton still held a 88-75 lead after three quarters of play. Kings guard Sheldon Mac was dominant all night and helped secure the victory for Stockton, scoring 11 of his team-high 26 points off the bench in the fourth quarter. With the win, Stockton ended South Bay's four-game win streak.

Paris Bass continued his strong play off the bench for South Bay, dropping 19 points and six rebounds in 27 minutes of play. Starting guard Mac McClung, who ranks second in the G League in assists per game with 8.3, had another solid performance as well, recording 17 points, seven assists and a career-high four steals. South Bay big man Jay Huff nearly tallied a double-double with 14 points and nine rebounds.

Stockton had three players score over 20 points as Sheldon Mac (26 points), DJ Steward (26 points) and Matt Coleman III (21 points) all played major roles in the team's victory. Devearl Ramsey also provided 17 points off the bench for Stockton, making four of his five three-point attempts on the night.

South Bay will look to get back in the win column as they travel to take on the Rio Grande Valley Vipers on Thursday, March 3 at 5:30 P.M. PT at the Bert Ogden Arena. The game will be streamed on ESPN+.
