Stockton Ports Infielder Miles Head Selected as Mid-Season All-Star

STOCKTON, Calif.-Stockton Ports infielder Miles Head was named to the 2012 California League Mid-Season All-Star team as the All-Star Roster was released by the league today. The infielder is the lone representative of the Ports at the 16th annual All-Star game between the California and Carolina Leagues which will be held June 19th in Winston-Salem, NC.

As a representative of the Ports, Miles Head has earned his spot on the All-Star team's starting roster. Heading into the All-Star break, Miles is hitting .368, leading the entire California league with his batting average, slugging percentage (.653), and total hits (88).

"We are excited to congratulate Miles on his selection as a Mid-Season All-Star," Ports President Pat Filippone said. "He has had an impressive run through the first half of the season, and we are looking forward to see his progression through the rest of the season."

The power-hitting Head currently leads the Ports with his .368 average, and ranks among the top five in the California league in many offensive categories, including RBIs (45), on-base percentage (.422), doubles (20), triples (6), home runs (12), and runs (49). Head has split time on defense between third base and first base, but will be the starting first baseman for the California League at the All-Star Game on June 19th.
