Rancho Cucamonga Quakes News Release

Rancho Cucamonga, CA - California League All-Stars were named today by the Cal League office and the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes will be represented by first-year Dodgers' farmhand C.J. Retherford.

An infielder, Retherford, who was also named the Cal League's Player of the Week earlier today, will start for the California League as the starting designated hitter next week in Winston-Salem, NC.

As the Quakes' every-day third baseman, Retherford has had a strong first half, but has been on a torrid streak over the last week, with five homers in his last five games, going 10-for-20 in that span.

A former ASU Sun Devil, Retherford currently owns a nine-game hitting streak and leads the Quakes in all three major offensive categories. He also ranks amongst the league-leaders in average (fifth at .337), homers (second with 14) and RBIs (tied for first with 49).

This is Retherford's fourth All-Star selection of his career and his first since joining the Dodgers' family. After being signed by the Chicago White Sox out of college in 2007, the Chandler, AZ native spent five years in the Sox system, before also spending time in the Atlanta and Detroit farm systems.

Bakersfield, High Desert and Lake Elsinore all had five All-Star representatives to lead the league. For a complete listing of the California League All-Star team, visit www.californialeague.com.

Retherford and his Cal League All-Star teammates will take on the Carolina League on Tuesday, June 19th, from Winston-Salem, NC, the home of the Winston-Salem Dash. The game can be heard live through the Dash website at www.wsdash.com .
