
Five Storm Honored as Cal League All-Stars

Oxnard -The Storm have five representatives on the 2012 California League mid-season All-Star roster in Pitchers Donn Roach and Kevin Quackenbush, infielder Cory Spangenberg, and outfielders Rico Noel and Rymer Liriano. The Storm will also be represented by Coaches David Newhan and Bronswell Patrick and Athletic Trainer Will Sinon who were part of the 2011 California League Championship last season.
The California League All-Stars will head to Winston-Salem, NC where they will face the Carolina League All-stars at BB&T ballpark, the home of the Winston-Salem Dash.
Donn Roach will be the California League starting pitcher after leading the league with a 10-1 overall record and is 5-1 with the Storm with a 1.77 ERA. Roach began his Cal League season with the Inland Empire 66ers going 5-0 before being traded and joining Lake Elsinore back on May 4. In seven games with the Storm he has struck out 37 batters in 40.2 innings pitched and opposing batters are hitting .235 against him.
Rico Noel will be the other Storm starter in the All-Star game. Noel is currently leading the team with a batting average of .316 and has been most of the season. He is tied in the league for most games played at 63 and is second in the league and all of Minor League Baseball in steals with 42. He has recorded 42 runs on 79 hits with a .348 slugging percentage.
Closer Kevin Quackenbush leads the league in saves with 13 so far this season and has an ERA of 0.98 in 25 games. In those 25 games he has recorded 30 strikeouts and only 12 walks in 27.2 innings pitched.
Top prospect Cory Spangenberg is fourth in the league in stolen bases with 20 while batting a .298 average. In 61 games he has hit 11 doubles, six triples and recorded 31 RBI for the Storm.
Rymer Liriano rounds out the mid-season All-Stars after increasing his batting average 70 points to .303 in the last month. Liriano is tied with teammate Everett Williams with a team high 35 RBI. He leads the team with 17 doubles in 61 games and is fourth in the league in stolen bases with 19 just behind Spangenberg.
