Sean Murphy Named California League Pitcher of the Week

STOCKTON, Calif.-Ports right-handed pitcher Sean Murphy has been off to a great start so far with the Ports since his promotion from Burlington and Minor League Baseball is taking notice, naming him the California League Pitcher of the Week for the week of June 4-10.

Murphy made his fourth start for the Ports on June 8th against the San Jose Giants. He allowed just 3 hits over 6.1 innings with 10 strikeouts and 1 walk en route to his third win with the Ports.

This is the second time Murphy has been named Pitcher of the Week during the 2012 season, however it is the first since he has been in the California League. He was named Pitcher of the Week in the Midwest League for the week of April 30th. Murphy was promoted to Stockton's roster on May 23 and has been dominating California League hitters since. As of 6/11 he has a 1.33 ERA over 4 games allowing just 16 hits during 27.0 innings pitched. His command has been equally impressive issuing only 3 walks and striking out 28 batters since his promotion.
