Stockton, California - The Stockton Thunder (12-5-1-3) defeated the Utah Grizzlies (12-7-3-1) 3-2 Saturday night in Stockton in a battle of two of the top three teams in the conference.

Stockton took a 2-0 lead with two goals in 23 seconds at 5:47 and 6:10 of the first period as Utah had a lapse in their own end. The Thunder then made it 3-0 7:01 into the second period on a power-play goal. Grizzlies Head Coach Kevin Colley then called timeout to regroup his team.

"We came out feeling too good about ourselves after the big win last night," said Colley. "We bounced back and made it a good game, but it was too late to overcome."

Utah responded with two Marcus Carroll power-play goals (13:28 of the 2nd period and 8:11 of the 3rd period) to make it 3-2 with a chance to tie in the third period. Matt Sorteberg assisted on both goals.

The game featured five fights and 14 combined power-plays. The Thunder responded with the 3-2 win after Utah beat them 3-2 in Stockton on November 26 in the first meeting between the two teams. The Grizzlies open a five-game in eight-day home stand Wednesday with Las Vegas. All games are scheduled to start at 7:05 p.m.
