December 5, 2010 - NBA G League (G League)
Iowa Wolves News Release
DES MOINES, IA, December 5, 2010- Point guard Curtis Stinson saved his best for last as the veteran made jump shots on three consecutive possessions in the finals minutes of the Iowa Energy's 93-85 victory over the Dakota Wizards Sunday in Des Moines.
Iowa, which had defeated Dakota three times already this season, appeared to be on its way to an easy victory as an Othyus Jeffers dunk with 4:36 left in the 3rd quarter put the Energy up 66-49. Dakota had other thoughts as the Wizards opened the 4th quarter on a 12-2 run to cut the Iowa lead to 74-69. A Michael Anderson jump shot brought Dakota to within two points with only 2:43 remaining, setting up Stinson's late heroics.
With the game in the balance, Stinson responded by scoring seven consecutive points for the Energy, including three consecutive mid-range jumpers to give Iowa a commanding 90-83 lead with only 22.1 seconds remaining. Dakota's Renaldo Major would cut the lead to five on a jump shot, but Stinson added a free throw and Othyus Jeffers rebounded a missed free throw and scored in the final seconds to seal the victory for Iowa.
Stinson and Jeffers led Iowa with 18 points each. Center Courtney Sims added 15 points and 9 rebounds.
Dakota was led by Chris Johnson, who finished with 23 points and 11 rebounds. The loss drops the Wizards to 1-6 on the season.
