In a physical, and evenly matched first period, the Rays got on the board first. An even strength goal by Paul McIlveen, at 8:16, from Bryan Esner and Andrew Andricopoulos, gave them a 1-0 lead. The lead would hold up through 20 minutes, and they skated off up a goal.

Guerin scored at 11:17 from Chris Chaput and McNeill. Six minutes later Travis Morin scored an empty net short handed goal, and put the nail in the Jackal's coffin.
