Fresno Falcons News Release
Fresno, Calif. - Igor Gongalsky's first professional goal with 1:44 remaining in the third period lifted the Fresno Falcons to a 3-2 win over the Bakersfield Condors in front of 5,788 fans at Save Mart Center on Saturday.
One week after the two clubs combined for 160 penalty minutes in Bakersfield, the squads got together early with two fights in the first five seconds of play, as Luke Stauffacher got together with Spencer Carbery and Josh Ciocco fought Evan Kotsopoulos.
Just over seven minutes into the opening period, Fresno took a 1-0 lead with a power play goal. Oren Eizenman took a quick shot from the left-wing circle which rolled beyond the reach of Jamie Hodson for his second goal of the season.
Bakersfield took the lead with a pair of power-play goals just 35 seconds apart near the midpoint of the second period. Steven Later tied the score at 7:25, beating Kris Mayotte with a snap shot from the top of the left-wing circle.
At 8:00, Kevin Truelson took a pass from Tim Konsorada at the right point, and beat Mayotte with a high wrist shot for his second goal of the season.
Fresno came back late in the period to knot the score at 2. Just after a power-play opportunity expired, P.O. Beaulieu took a shot from the left-wing half boards, and snuck a shot past Hodson on the short side.
The Falcons recorded the game-winning goal with less than two minutes remaining in regulation. Gongalsky played the puck in front from the near corner, and Hodson was unable to corral it at 18:16.
The Falcons open a seven-game road trip on Thursday with a 7:11 p.m. face-off in Phoenix. Catch all of the action on 790 ESPN Radio, The Deuce, starting with the Port of Subs Pre-Game Show at 6:55.
Fresno returns home on Saturday, November 24, hosting the Alaska Aces at 7:30 p.m. Tickets for all Falcons' home games can be purchased at the Save Mart Center Box Office, or through TicketMaster at (559) 485-TIXS or www.ticketmaster.com.
