Rookie forward Brett Cameron scored his 20th goal of the season and the South Carolina Stingrays collected a point in the standings for the ninth straight game, but the Atlanta Gladiators earned a 3-2 victory in overtime Thursday evening at the Infinite Energy Arena. Atlanta forward Tyler Murovich scored the game-winning goal on a breakaway at 4:04 of the extra session to give the Gladiators a league-leading eighth overtime win.

March 26: South Carolina at Atlanta, 2-0 Win

For the 22nd time in the club's 23 seasons in the Lowcountry, the South Carolina Stingrays are playoff bound. South Carolina punched its ticket to the 2016 Kelly Cup Playoffs with a 2-0 win over the Atlanta Gladiators Saturday evening at the Infinite Energy Arena. Kelly Zajac scored the game-winning goal on the power play 2:49 into the third period and Vitek Vanecek earned his third shutout of the season with 20 saves.

PICKING UP POINTS

The Stingrays have collected points in the past 10 games, going 7-0-2-1 in that stretch. The club's last regulation loss was over a month ago, a 2-0 defeat at Florida on February 28.

DEXSHOW IS BACK

South Carolina Stingrays goaltender Mark Dekanich has returned to the Stingrays after being called up to the club's American Hockey League affiliate, the Hershey Bears, last Wednesday. This was the second call-up to Hershey for Dekanich. With the Stingrays, Dekanich, 29, has been one of the ECHL's top goaltenders, posting a 17-9-2-2 record. His 2.14 goals-against average is sixth in the league, and he boasts the fourth best save-percentage at .926. He has registered a pair of shutouts with the Stingrays this season in 32 appearances.

20 LOOKS GOOD ON YOU

In last Thursday's game against the Atlanta Gladiators, South Carolina forward Brett Cameron notched his 20th goal of the season. Cameron is tied for second on the team with 48 points (20 goals, 28 assists) in his rookie campaign. Stephan Vigier (23) and Cameron (20) lead the team in goals.

BYE BYE, ATLANTA

The South Carolina Stingrays will close out the home portion of the season series with Atlanta tonight night before battling a final time against the Gladiators April 6 on the road. So far this season, the Stingrays are 7-3-1-0 against the Gladiators.

PLAYOFF BOUND

With the 2-0 win against Atlanta on the road last Saturday night, the Stingrays officially clinched a playoff spot in the 2016 Kelly Cup Playoffs. This is the 22nd time in the club's 23 seasons in the Lowcountry that the Stingrays are playoff bound.

IF THE PLAYOFFS STARTED TODAY...

If the regular season ended today, South Carolina would finish as the #2 seed in the Eastern Conference. This would have the Stingrays facing the #7 Reading Royals in the opening round of the 2016 Kelly Cup Playoffs. This would be a rematch of the opening round of the 2015 Kelly Cup Playoffs where the Stingrays won the series in seven games en route to a Kelly Cup Finals appearance.
