
Stingrays Weekly: Connelly Becomes Fourth ECHL Goaltender To Record Three Straight Shutouts

The South Carolina Stingrays concluded their five-game home stand with a three-in-three weekend at North Charleston Coliseum against the Gwinnett Gladiators and Toledo Walleye for a week record of 3-0-0. On Friday, the Stingrays squared off with the Gladiators and skated away with 4-0 victory. Forwards Rob Ricci, Keith Johnson and Matt Scherer each potted goals and Spencer Carbery netted his second shorthanded tally of the season. On Saturday, the Stingrays celebrated their Fourth Annual Pink in the Rink night and welcomed the Walleye to the Coliseum for the first time in team history. The Stingrays broke open the scoring midway through the first period and never looked back, blanking the Walleye 6-0 in front of a Pink in the Rink-record 6,801. Rookie Jake Hauswirth recorded three assists and six different Stingrays registered two points. The weekend concluded with one final regular-season matchup with the Walleye. Similar to Saturday night, the Stingrays jumped on the board early and often toppling the Walleye 6-0 for the second straight night. Stingrays defenseman Grant Farrell scored his first ECHL goal and the Stingrays went 4-for-7 on the power play.
Stingrays goaltender Shane Connelly stood between the pipes for each of the three shutouts making it the fourth time in ECHL history and the first time since Sebastien Laplante in 2004-05 that a goaltender has recorded three straight shutouts.

Stingrays rookie forward Jake Hauswirth stands 12th on ECHL rookie chart with 11 goals and 25 assists for 36 points. Forward Rob Ricci ranks 8th among ECHL rookies with 40 points (19g, 21a).
Stingrays forward Keith Johnson leads the Stingrays and ranks 10th on the ECHL overall leaderboard with 23 goals and 31 assists for 54 points.
Stingrays forward Trent Campbell is currently on a nine-game point streak with five goals and nine assists. Campbell also ranks 12 overall in the ECHL with 15 goals and 39 assists for 49 points. Forward Gregg Johnson is riding a five-game point streak with seven points (2g, 5a).
