Everblades Open Season-High, Eight-Game Homestand By Winning Two Of Three

The Florida Everblades welcomed the Kalamazoo Wings to Germain Arena for the first time ever last Wednesday, Friday and Saturday. In three great games, Florida secured two victories one in regulation (Wednesday) and one in a shootout (Saturday). Kalamazoo's lone victory came on Friday night in overtime.

The Everblades will have a nearly a week off before they next step on the ice in ECHL play on Saturday night in Germain Arena against the South Carolina Stingrays. Games four and five of an eight-game homestand continues this week.

Please note: Friday, February 26th game against South Carolina has been moved to Sunday, February 28th at 5:00 p.m.

LAST WEEK

Wednesday, February 17 vs Kalamazoo Germain Arena 7:30PM

GAME NOTES: The Florida Everblades and Kalamazoo Wings met for the first time ever in Germain Arena on Wednesday night. Florida jumped on top of Kalamazoo 4-0 and held on to win 4-2. Milan Gajic notched two goals and added an assist while Kevin Baker registered three helpers for the victorious Everblades. Elgin Reid, returning from injury, chipped in two assists as well.

Friday, February 19 vs Kalamazoo Germain Arena 7:30PM

GAME NOTES: Kalamazoo overcame a one-goal deficit heading into the third period to win in overtime, 4-3. Brian McGuirk was the hero firing in the game clincher 3:39 into the OT session. Dominic Osman scored two goals and had a chance for a third on a penalty shot but was stopped by Wings netminder Jeremy Duchesne in the second period. Defenseman Phil Paquet recorded two assists in the loss for Florida.

Saturday, February 20 vs Kalamazoo Germain Arena 7:30PM

GAME NOTES: For the second straight game the Everblades had a lead after two periods of play, however, unlike the night before the Everblades would taste victory 4-3 in a shootout. Florida's final three shooters scored to earn two points for Florida. Elgin Reid (5), Milan Gajic (10) and Kevin Baker (9) all scored in regulation for the Everblades, who improved to 3-0-2 in the regular-season series. Chris Beckford-Tseu stopped 33 shots to record his team-leading 10th victory of the season.

THIS WEEK

Saturday, February 27 vs South Carolina Germain Arena 7:30PM

GAME NOTES: The Florida Everblades and South Carolina Stingrays meet for the seventh and eighth times this season this weekend in Germain Arena. The Everblades have posted a 2-3-1 mark overall against the Stingrays and are 1-2-0 in their home barn. Florida won the first meeting 3-2 on October 28, 2009, while South Carolina won the next two games by the same score in subsequent nights.

Sunday, February 28 vs South Carolina Germain Arena 5:00PM

GAME NOTES: This is the second of back-to-back affairs in Florida and is the second of seven scheduled meetings between the two clubs in three weeks. From March 12-20, Florida and South Carolina will meet five straight times with South Carolina hosting three of those battles to finish of the 13-game season series.

Chris Beckford-Tseu stopped 101 of 110 shots and posted at least 33 saves in each of the three games against Kalamazoo this week. The Toronto, Ontario native 33 of 35 on Wednesday night to post his ninth win of the season, 4-2. On Friday, Beckford-Tseu made 35 saves of 39 shots in the 'Blades lone loss in overtime on Friday, 4-3. He finished the week with 33 of 36 stops including three of four shooters in the shootout on Saturday in Florida's 4-3 shootout win.

Gajic recorded multiple point efforts in two of the three games this week for Florida. The Burnaby, British Columbia native fired in two goals and an assist in the 'Blades 4-2 victory on Wednesday. After not posting a point on Friday, Gajic rebounded with a goal and an assist and was +2 on Saturday's 4-3 shootout win.
