South Carolina Stingrays News Release
NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. - The South Carolina Stingrays will host their annual Teddy Bear Toss at the team's next home game on Friday, Dec. 9 when they battle the Greenville Swamp Rabbits. Always a popular promotional date, the team's fans are encouraged to bring a new or gently used stuffed animal to the game, which begins at 7:05 p.m.
When the Stingrays score their first goal, all bears and other animals get thrown on the ice. Stingrays' players and staff will help collect the bears and then donate them to the Salvation Army's Angel Tree Program, giving children in need stuffed animals for the holidays. Last season the team hosted the promotion on Dec. 13 and collected a total of 3,077 stuffed animals.
The following night, Dec. 10, will include a live appearance of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle characters Donatello and Leonardo as the Stingrays once again battle Greenville at 7:05 p.m. Bring the kids and make sure to get your picture with the popular TNMT personalities. The game will also serve as the first "Hat Trick for Reading" night. Students from local schools will be in attendance after earning a ticket by reading a "Hat Trick" of books (that would be 3 books if you need to brush up on your hockey lingo).
Also on Dec. 10, South Carolina is hosting a Toy and Coat Drive. Bring a new unwrapped toy or a new or gently used coat to the game and receive a free Stingrays collectible stadium cup. All toys will be donated to the Tricounty Family Ministries for their annual Client Christmas Brunch event on Dec. 19.
Later in the month on Saturday, Dec. 31, South Carolina will host a New Year's celebration as the team battles the Florida Everblades. The first 2,000 fans through the door will receive a collectible Trevor Gillies Bobblehead.
The figure will not only have a head that moves, but Trevor's signature arm flex will also shake.Single-game tickets for the 2016-17 season are now on sale at the North Charleston Coliseum Box Office and ticketmaster.com. Full and half-season ticket plans are also available and more information can be found at stingrayshockey.com.
