South Carolina Stingrays News Release
NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. - In the South Carolina Stingrays' continued quest to support the Charleston community, the organization has teamed up this season with the Charleston Miracle League.
The Charleston Miracle League is a non-profit organization that makes it possible for special needs children to play baseball. The organization provides an opportunity for children with disabilities to be a part of a team with their peers and to be accepted openly by their teammates, volunteer buddies, and the community. Recent contributions from local businesses, individuals and the City of Charleston have allowed the Charleston Miracle League to build a state of the art baseball field that allows disabled children the freedom to play baseball without barriers.
The entire Stingrays team, including coaches, will be out at the state of the art field on Saturday October 7 from 9 a.m. until noon. They will be interacting with the children on and off the baseball field to help promote social skills, hand-eye coordination and self-esteem.
"The Stingrays are looking forward to a great day of fun with the Charleston Miracle League, which is a true Low Country success story," noted Darren Abbott, Stingrays president.
In addition to the Stingrays coming out on October 7, the game on November 12 against Augusta is Charleston Miracle League Night. The night will feature members of the Charleston Miracle League in every aspect from pre-game activities to intermissions along with the League itself being highlighted throughout the game.
"We are excited for our future partnership with the South Carolina Stingrays," said Melissa Fuller, Executive Director for the Charleston Miracle League. "We look forward to seeing them on the field on October 7 joining our players in the great game of baseball. I think our players will be able to teach these hockey athletes a thing or two about baseball! We also can't wait to come out and see the Stingrays in action on November 12 for Charleston Miracle League Night!"
The Charleston Miracle League's motto is "Every child deserves a chance to play baseball!" Find out how you can make a difference and help their motto become a reality. Call Melissa Fuller at 843-763-2513 for more information today.
