Fresno Falcons News Release
Fresno, Calif. - The Fresno Falcons announced today that the team has signed defenseman Vince Macri to a contract for the 2006-07 season.
Macri rejoins the Falcons after being assigned to the team late last season by the NHL's New York Islanders. After starting last season with the Islanders' American Hockey League affiliate, the Bridgeport Sound Tigers, Macri was assigned to Fresno on March 10, and appeared in 17 regular-season games, as well as 18 playoff contests.
The 25-year-old is no stranger to Falcons' Head Coach and General Manager Matt Thomas, as he played under Thomas' leadership with Atlantic City during the 2004-05 season. Macri has played in 80 career AHL games, all with Bridgeport, in addition to his time with the Boardwalk Bullies and Falcons.
"Vince brings an element of toughness and skill to our blue line," Thomas said. "With considerable time in the American Hockey League, he should be a top defenseman in our conference this season."
