Victoria Salmon Kings News Release
Victoria, BC - The Victoria Salmon Kings head coach Tony MacAulay and assistant coach Mark Morrison are offering their expertise at the Manitoba Moose training camp today at River Heights Arena in Winnipeg, MB.
As a proud affiliate of the Vancouver Canucks and Manitoba Moose, the Salmon Kings are helping to prepare players for both the ECHL and the American Hockey League (AHL) season.
"We are happy to be here as a support system for our parent club," said MacAulay. "We are here to help out wherever needed."
Three Salmon Kings players are participating in the camp: Rookie Goaltender Bryan Bridges, and high-scoring forwards David Wrigley and Warren McCutcheon.
Bridges holds the Seattle Thunderbirds and Western Hockey League (WHL) career record with 20 shutouts and had an invite to the Canucks camp last month. Wrigley recorded 84 points (42 goals, 42 assists) in 76 games last season as he helped the Muskegon Fury (UHL) capture the league championship Colonial Cup. McCutcheon led the University of Manitoba Bison last season with 60 points (27 goals, 33 assists) in just 41 games.
Today's on-ice sessions wrap up with a scrimmage, during which MacAulay and Morrison will have a chance to evaluate players. On Tuesday, September 26th, training camp will shift to the MTS Centre and remain there until Thursday, September 28th.
The Salmon Kings training camp begins Thursday October 5th, with on-ice sessions beginning on Friday October 6th.
